The sustainable mobility project dedicated to schools in Bologna is back

The fifteenth edition of We Were Born to Walk (SNxC), the initiative that invites boys, girls and their families to overturn the order of priorities in urban travel, is underway. Promoted by the City of Bologna and developed by the Antarctic Center together with the Anti-Smog Parents Association, the campaign develops into an educational path to put pedestrian and cycling mobility back at the base of our daily lives.

Focus 2025-26: Space for emotions

This year's edition focuses on listening: How do children experience spaces in front of schools? What feelings do the streets and squares of the neighborhood evoke in them? Through an experiential approach, classes are invited to critically observe the places they pass through every day. Places that can be spaces of friendship and discovery, but which unfortunately sometimes become sources of stress if they do not respect the right to health and play. Children will express these feelings through poems and drawings, participating in a creative journey that will give voice to their vision of the city.

From 9 to 20 March 2026, the schools in the city that have joined the project will be engaged in a real sustainable mobility competition: all boys, girls, boys and girls will be invited to go to school with sustainable means and to record the method used daily. At the end of the activities, it will be possible to organize local initiatives for the enhancement and sharing of the work carried out by the classes together with the award of awards for the most virtuous classes on their way to school.

The classes that have shown the most significant improvements will be invited to a final event that will take place in the first week of May at the headquarters of the City of Bologna.
